Location, Location, Location:
While Mammoth Lakes is a pretty small town (meaning you can get from one corner to another within 10-15 minutes tops!), there are definitely locations which are preferred over another. If walking to a ski lift is important (and it really should be if you are skiing...) there are three options. You can stay within walking distance to the Canyon Lodge (used to be called warming hut II), the Eagle Lodge, or near The Village. Typically, this translates to paying more compared to a condo away from the slopes (i.e., on Old Mammoth Rd, near Vons and various restaurants). However, remember that Mammoth Lakes also has a great shuttle system that runs through just about every corner of the little town.

Quality and Amenities:
Some condo complex will stand out as being nicer, more modern, and upscale. Some are old and outdated, but more affordable. "You get what you pay for!" In addition, remember that each of the units within a complex are individually owned and updated according to the wishes of its owner. So, pick the one that you like and meets your special needs.
